I just received a Christmas email from Road ID. Last year I purchased ID "dog tags" for myself and everyone in my family.
I do a lot of training outside. I may be running in the streets, or jogging on the trails in my nearby mountains. Either way, my wife feels more secure knowing that I will be wearing my ID tags.
Many years ago when I was working as a personal trainer at the Intercontinental Hotel in Los Angeles we hosted a bunch of the athletes who were competing in the LA marathon. I had the opportunity to speak at length with one of the wheelchair athletes. She told me of how she was an avid bicyclist in her home country of Australia and was hit by an 18-wheeler. The truck hit her and kept on going. She was laying on the side of the road, and luckily help came by.
